Dr Nan SHI

With 25 years planning experience in central governmental agency, planning consultant institution and non-governmental organization, currently as the Secretary General of Urban Planning Society of China(UPSC), and Executive Chief Editor of City Planning Review, Mr. Shi Nan has been engaged in both academic and practice in planning. He is a member of National Committee for Planning Education Accreditation and National Board for Planning Certification, and also in an advisory capacity to the City of Guangzhou, Xi’an, Harin, Dalian, Hefei, Foshan etc. His latest research involves Revision to Planning Act, PRC(MoC), National Norm for Planning Terminology(MoC), Demand of Continuing Planning Education in China(World Bank), Planning, Management and Development in 21 Century(UNDP), Spatial Strategy for City of Yinchuan(World Bank) etc. Many papers and books are published in Chinese.

Contribution, research priorities:
Introducing the latest development in strategic planning in China, participating related discussion.
Personal research priorities are focused on policy analysis, especially the interrelationship between partners involved in planning.
Anticipated results:
• networking planning professors and practitioners;
• discussion on cross scale spatial planning
• discussion on relation between spatial planning and its political context.
